NY chase ends in scaffold collapse

July 14, 2009 7:08:01 AM PDT
Two people were hurt Monday night when scaffolding fell on their car after they crashed into a building under construction. The car slammed into a pole holding up the scaffolding at 890 Washington Avenue in the Mott Haven Section of the Bronx.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m.

Police say a car, moving at high speed, jumped the curb and smashed through the scaffolding. The scaffold then collapsed on the vehicle, pinning the suspect driver and his female passenger.

Both were transported to an area hospital after being extricated.

Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
