Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow said Monday that the investigation was launched after one of the children told his parents that Jones had assaulted him.
Jones was arrested Friday and is being held at the Union County Jail on $500,000 bail pending an initial court appearance.
The prosecutor's office did not know if he had retained a lawyer.
