NJ counselor charged in sex abuse

Authorities in northern New Jersey say they have arrested a crisis intervention counselor employed by Union County, alleging that he abused several children. Forty-nine-year-old Jerry Jones of Roselle, an employee of the county Youth Service Bureau, is accused of having sexual relations with at least three boys and one girl. They range in age from 6 to 14.

Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow said Monday that the investigation was launched after one of the children told his parents that Jones had assaulted him.

Jones was arrested Friday and is being held at the Union County Jail on $500,000 bail pending an initial court appearance.

The prosecutor's office did not know if he had retained a lawyer.
