From the basics, like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, to a little caviar, there are all kinds of baskets for all kinds of tastes from area restaurants. Just order several hours ahead of time and then pick up your picnic.
Boqueria offers more of a bag than a basket, but it's stuffed with Spanish items like cured meats, cheese and gourmet sandwiches. The restaurant is named after the famous food market in Barcelona.
Boqueria's picnics are $25 a person.
And for something quintessentially New York, Russ and Daughters offers picnics named after New York parks. Central Park gets you four bagels and lox, along with egg salad, chocolate grams for dessert and a few other items.
Russ and Daughters picnics start at $40 dollars.
And perfect for the grass or even a park bench. The Peanut Butter Company does a variety of peanut butter sandwiches, plus other goodies, for $28.
The Oak Room makes picnicking easy - it's right across the street from Central Park. They'll pack you a basket for $20 a person and up. There's a $30 option that features the Oak Room's copped chicken salad. Breads, fruit and petit fours finish it off.
And for perhaps the swankiest way to picnic, stop off at Petrossian. They offer a cooler bag with sandwiches and caviar, among other items. Picnics start at $20.
Boqueria is has two locations, one on West 19th Street and another on Spring Street in Soho. Visit BoqueriaNYC.com for more information.
