On Sunday, Camacho's condition was upgraded to serious but guarded.

Authorities say the officers were shot by Hassan Shakur, who opened fire with a tactical shotgun from 5 feet away as his apartment door was smashed open by a police battering ram. DiNardo remains in critical but stable condition at Jersey City Medical Center.

Shakur, 32, and Amanda Anderson, 22, were pronounced dead at the scene Thursday.

They had been wanted in connection with a June 18 armed robbery in Jersey City, where a man was shot in the stomach with the same shotgun, and also were suspected of a similar robbery in South Carolina.
