Woman, Good Samaritan in ICU after beating

JERSEY CITY The brutal assault was caught on camera.

The victim remains in the intensive care unit. Her identity has not been revealed.

Also in in intensive care is the Good Samaritan who came to her aid. The two suspects are now under arrest, charged with attempted murder.

The attack went on for more than 20 minutes. Neighbors say it is a miracle the victim survived. The Good Samaritan was walking along the sidewalk and happened to see what was going on. Neighbors say he tried to help.

The two 18-year-old suspects who have been arrested are each facing two charges of attempted murder. Carlos Acosta and Davon Gordon are each being held on $250,000 bail. Police say the suspects were picked up two blocks from the crime scene, covered in the victim's blood.

The attack happened around 5 a.m. on Sunday. The mayor's office says the 29-year-old victim was found "naked, unconscious, severely beaten and sexually assaulted." She was lying in a pool of blood.

People who live in the neighborhood say they saw what happened and that a group of men were responsible for the beating. They say the suspects picked up her naked body and body-slammed her head-first onto the concrete.

The Good Samaritan was chased down after he tried to intervene and beaten until the bones in his face were broken.

The mayor's office says that police cameras are on order for the neighborhood, but there is no timeline as to when they will be installed and functional. Police say they are looking for at least one other suspect.
