Tree trimmer dies in freak accident

ROCKVILLE CENTRE The 65-year-old worker's truck malfunctioned while extended at the intersection of Capitolian Boulevard and William Street just after 9 a.m.

The worker was two stories in the air when the arm of the cherry picker malfunctioned. That caused the truck to lose power.

The bucket truck plummeted into the side of a house, and the worker plunged to his death. The man, employed by Howie's Tree Service, was grooming a pine tree at the time.

He was pronounced dead at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside.
