NJ police chase ends in fiery crash

NEWARK The crash, at Hunterdon Street and Sheppard Avenue, ended police attempts to pull over the vehicle, which was apparently stolen.

Eyewitness News is told the two occupants of the car, a silver Intrepid, refused to pull over for police as they sped through Newark just before 1 a.m. The vehicle collided with another car, sending both out of control.

The suspects' car reportedly crashed through a fence and into the side of a house, where it caught fire.

The two suspects ran away from the burning car on foot. Police ran after them, but they got away.

Officials say two occupants of the other vehicle, which careened into a concrete wall, were treated for non life-threatening injuries.

They were taken to University Hospital for treatment.
