A 29-year-old man was fatally shot in a street dispute, but his 2-year-old son somehow avoided being hit. Police say Kester LaRoc was shot in the torso outside of 451 East 52nd Street just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

LaRoc was walking his son, Kessai, home from day care at the time of the shooting.

Family members found the boy covered in his father's blood, but uninjured.

LaRock's 36-year-old friend, who was also shot, was taken to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition.

LaRoc was unemployed father of four. Detectives are looking into the motive for the gunfire.
