Officials: Tornado touched down in Conn.

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Connecticut for the second time in a little over a month. The tornado hit Shelton on Friday afternoon, moving through the Pine Rock Park area with estimated wind speeds of 95 to 105 miles per hour. No injuries were reported. The tornado was part of a larger storm that caused damage statewide.

A state was hit by another tornado on June 26. That tornado in Wethersfield lasted three minutes and traveled 1.7 miles, knocking out power and downing trees.

Damage from that storm was estimated at $2.4 million The state usually sees about one tornado a year.
