Teacher claims harassment by students

NEW YORK "It's the torment. It's like torture," Theresa Reel said.

Theresa Reel loves teaching high school social studies, but she says she's constantly looking over her shoulder.

"It doesn't happen everyday, but sometimes I panic and wonder what's going to happen today?" she said.

Reel claims students have harassed her at the School for Legal Studies High School for more than 4 years. She says she gets nervous every time she walks through the doors. She gets nauseous thinking about coming back in the fall.

Reel claims she's targeted by 19, 20 and 21 year old students at the Williamsburg, Brooklyn school.

In a federal lawsuit, the teacher says in 2006 a male student rubbed her breast with his elbow and smiled.

As for the rest of the allegations, they're too sexually explicit and graphic for us to tell you.

"I've gone to the ladies room and sobbed my eyes out. I go home and I cry. I go to bed and cry. It's torture. It's torment," Reel said.

"I thought it was remarkable the school system didn't have a policy to deal with this," attorney Larry Cary said.

Cary says his client called the police and filed dozens of written complaints to school administrators, but neither helped the problem.

The school board says it can't comment on pending litigation.

Reel is asking for money and a school policy change.

She believes other teachers are being harassed, but they are too scared to speak up.
