New charges for John 'Junior' Gotti

NEW YORK Gotti was indicted on charges linking him to the murder of George Grasso in December of 1988 and the murder of Bruce John Gotterup in November of 1991.

Both killings were allegedly drug related.

Gotti is currently awaiting trial on racketeering and three murder-related charges.

However, the federal government has decided not to seek the death penalty if Gotti is convicted.

Gotti goes on trial Sept. 14 in Manhattan.

He has pleaded not guilty to involvement in three slayings in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He could face life in prison.

Three previous cases against Gotti ended in hung juries and mistrials in 2005 and 2006.

The son of the notorious Gambino boss John Gotti says he quit the mob in the 1990s.

The elder Gotti died in prison in 2002.
