Husband goes on deadly rampage on L.I.

ROSLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. The shooting happened at a house on Elm Street in Roslyn Heights just after 12:30 p.m.

Neighbors said a violent argument erupted on the front lawn of the house. The man left, but neighbors later saw him come back to the house carrying a sports bag. Inside that bag, police said, was a shotgun.

The gunman, identified as 49-year-old Mohamed Shojaeifard, and his 66-year-old mother-in-law, Batool Biraman of Greenvale, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's estranged wife, 40-year-old Haleh Mohseni, and his 17-year-old daughter, Mandana Shojaeifard, were taken to the hospital. The teenager later died. Police say Mohseni is expected to survive.

The wife and daughter lived in the apartment, according to the landlord. They were moving out today.

Nassau County police Sgt. Richard Laursen says the couple were in the process of getting a divorce.
