A small plane has crashed nose down in a stream after taking off from a northwestern New Jersey airport, injuring the two men on board. The plane ended up in a heavily wooded area just east of Sussex Airport.

The plane's pilot and owner, 61-year-old Joseph Murray of Rockaway Township, and his passenger, 57-year-old Bill Fischer of Vernon, were taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital. Authorities say their injuries were not life-threatening.

The Cessna 150-H crashed nose-first into a creek about a half-mile from the airport shortly after 8:15 a.m. Wednesday.

The accident is under investigation.
