Man accused of ignoring ailing mom

FREEPORT, N.Y. Police say Reid left his 64-year-old mother face down on the floor for two days. Instead of calling 911, police say he pretended not to notice

"He stepped over, stepped around her and went to work," Det. Lt. Kevin Smith said.

It all started on Tuesday. Mary Reid fell on the first floor of her home on East Dean Street in Freeport. Police said Lacy Reid saw his mother, who was in dire need of medical attention

"On Wednesday night he came home did the same thing. Stepped over and around. No help. Nothing," Smith said.

Police say while Reid went to work as a porter at a nursing home, his mother was so desperate for help she dragged herself from the kitchen to the front door.

On Thursday night, Lacy Reid finally called 911. His mother was rushed to the hospital and went into cardiac arrest.

She was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

Lacy Reid was charged with reckless endangerment.
