NEW YORK
Vincent Riggio was rescued by firefighters with just cuts and
bruises Saturday afternoon. The 59-year-old businessman had just
left an Off-Track Betting parlor when he stepped on the platform on
Murray Street.
The corroded plate gave way, sending Riggio down into a
basement.
When help arrived, a firefighter lowered a rope down the hole
that helped fit a harness around Riggio, who was then hoisted up.
He was treated at St. Vincent's Hospital.
