Girl survives 7-story fall from window

BRONX A family friend would only identify the girl as Destiny.

According to that person, Destiny climbed out the window at 1:30 a.m. and fell seven stories (approximately 70 feet), landing on her side on a patch of grass at the Castle Hill Houses. She was still in her pajamas.

One neighbor reports hearing a loud thud and then realizing it was a young girl who had fallen.

Destiny is currently at Jacobi Hospital, where, according to the friend, she is suffering from a broken hip, shattered pelvis, broken leg, liver damage and intestinal injuries. She is undergoing surgery. She is listed in serious but stable condition.

The family friend tells Eyewitness News that there is a window guard on the window in question, but the window can open from the top and the bottom.

According to the friend, the mother recently complained to housing management that the window opens too wide from the top, and workers made some adjustments to the window.
