Authorities say an off-duty Paterson police officer shot and wounded her ex-boyfriend after he defied an order of protection by breaking into her home and assaulting her current boyfriend. The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office says officer Latrenta Grayson fired two shots from her service revolver. One struck her ex-boyfriend, Albert Mullings, in the bicep.

The eight-year veteran of the Paterson police tells investigators that Mullings broke into her home shortly after 2 a.m. Monday and threatened to kill her current boyfriend.

Mullings was treated for a broken left thumb and gunshot wound to the bicep. He faces charges of burglary, making terroristic threats and assault. It was not immediately known if he has retained a lawyer.
