Police: Drunk man runs his boat aground

August 28, 2009 6:53:07 AM PDT
A boater was charged with operating his vessel while intoxicated after he ran aground in Sleepy Hollow. Eyewitness News is told the boater apparently struck a channel marker in the Hudson River and lost control at around 11:40 p.m. last night.

His vessel ran aground and ended up on the rocks.

Police say the boater, who was not injured, was charged with operating his vessel while intoxicated.

Two others on board were treated for non life threatening injuries.

A woman was reportedly taken to Westchester Medical Center for injuries. An older man was evaluated at Phelps Hospital.

Investigators also suspect the boater may have been operating at an unsafe speed, judging by how high up the vessel was on the rocks.
