It was a busy morning for police in Newark as they hunted for four men behind a series of carjackings. It appears that in an 8-hour period a gang of four men was carjacking then dumping vehicles throughout the city of Newark.

Police say four gun wielding suspects were spotted driving a Jeep Cherokee before demanding the driver of a Range Rover get out of the vehicle.

Once out, at least two thieves took that Range Rover and peeled away. Cops were tracking the crimes and eventually the Jeep was first spotted near a BMW.

According to reports the jeep was eventually dumped and set on fire.

The Range Rover was also dumped but not torched. Cops eventually spotted the BMW which had been reported stolen from Elizabeth, NJ. The car was making its way east on Route 78.

Eyewitness News is told two suspects bailed out and then carjacked a Kia at the Fairfield Inn, but the suspects bolted after slamming the stolen vehicle into the security gate while trying to escape.

They took off running onto Route-78 and alluded police.

Police and K-9 units are looking for all four men.
