Arrest in jewelry store murder

The suspected getaway driver in the murder of a Kearny jewelry store owner has been arrested. Elvis Feratovic has been charged with felony murder and his bail has been set at $750,000 by Superior Court Judge Kevin Callahan.

Feratovic is charged in the killing of Rachel Jewelers store owner, Xavier Egoavil.

The arrest is the first in the case.

The shooting happened just before 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18th along Kearny Avenue and Liberty Street at Rachel Jewelers, a family-owned business.

The owner's son, Javier Egoavil, had also been shot several times.
