Sgt. Jim Needam said that the trooper is in stable condition.
He says the trooper was pursuing the suspect until they came to a stop around 3:15 p.m. on the parkway over Captree Island. There was some type of confrontation, and the trooper opened fire.
The man died on the parkway.
The shooting remains under investigation.
