Horse-drawn carriage and cab collide

September 19, 2009 5:49:28 PM PDT
A horse-drawn carriage and a cab collide on Fifth Avenue -- sending two people to the hospital. The accident happened just outside central park at East 60th Street and Fifth Avenue at noon.

Witnesses say the cab driver ran a red light and slammed into the carriage.

The cab then crashed through a brick wall before coming to a stop.

Neither vehicle was carrying passengers.

An activist who opposes the horse carriages says today's accident is a prime example of why they should be banned.
