Man charged with making phony 911 calls

LONG ISLAND Authorities say 37-year-old Michael Salino, of Mastic, used two disposable phones to report fake emergencies, including fires, car crashes, injured people and robberies in progress.

Investigators say he may have placed as many as 300 calls.

Salino is charged with six counts of felony falsely reporting an incident and twenty-five counts of misdemeanor falsely reporting an incident.
