Police investigate Queens sex assault

QUEENS The woman says she dragged into Forest Park at 91st Street and Park Lane South in Woodhaven.

The attacker was so bold that after he dragged the victim into the woods, he apologized before raping her.

Police say the 29-year-old victim told them she had gotten off of the J train around 1 a.m., walked down Woodhaven Boulevard and then turned on Park Lane South. Just as she neared an area of trees, she says a man who claimed to have a knife pulled her into the woods.

The woman, who lives in the area, was just blocks from her home and believes the suspect actually followed her from the Subway.

Women in the area say they will now be more careful while walking near Forest Park.

"I come home really late sometimes, and I walk this whole thing late, sometimes around the same time that this happened," resident Niki Cuoma said. "I'm not going to do that again, that's for sure."

The victim is a student teacher who works in Cambria Heights. The fire department has a building with several cameras near where this happened, but police say none of them were pointed at the attack.
