She created the product in her apartment, and there's a good chance you played with something quite similar when you were a kid. But her version has a modern, eco-friendly approach.
It's a pretty tiny kitchen.
"This is where I created the recipe," Brittany Shapiro said. "This is where I tested everything out."
But that didn't stop Shapiro from mixing, cooking and eventually creating Miss Brittany's Organic Preschool Fun Dough dough.
And now a business has launched. There are kits with three colors, an apron and wooden accessories.
The owners the indoor play center called Apple Seeds stock Miss Brittany's Fun Dough in their store.
"It was a no-brainer," said Alison Qualter Berna, who founded the center with friend Allison Schlanger. "It was a no-brainer to carry a product like this."
And the biggest critics are the little ones, who seem pretty impressed while they poked, rolled and smushed.
And just in case they believe the Play Doh ice cream, it's okay if they eat it. That's peace of minds for parents.
"If it's organic, it's even better," one parent said. "I'll give it a shot for sure."
And by the way, if the Fun Dough starts to dry out, a little organic canola oil will make it moist again. Miss Brittney says store her dough in the fridge. She's hoping there are a few of them in every household soon enough.
"I think I'm the environmentally friendly version," she said. "A new twist on an old favorite."
