Witnesses say a gray or white van mowed down 12-year-old Destiny Camacho and just kept on going.
One woman shielded a child, who was with her friend at the time of the accident.
Camacho was rushed to nearby hospital as police searched for clues that could lead them to the driver of the van.
Neighbors say something needs to be done to stop driver from speeding and running red lights in the area.
