Make your Spa Week appointments early!

NEW YORK Spa Week happens twice a year, and it's when spas band together and reduce their prices. In New York City alone, more than 150 spas are participating.

A mixture of honey and wine yeast may sound like something you should drink, but at the Caudalie Spa at the Plaza Hotel, it's what they use to hydrate the skin.

"Caudalie is based on vinotherapy, which is beauty from the vines," aesthetician Regine Berthelot said.

As in grape vines, and everything there is about grapes doing the body good. A body wrap treatment that includes a scalp massage usually runs $95, but for spa week it's $50. It's a good way for a relatively new spa to get new customers.

"Spa Week is making it affordable to get people into the spas and take time for themselves," organizer Lindsey Gockenback said.

With people spending less on beauty, Spa Week is a boon for the both spa and the customers. At Spa H, facials are one of the discounted treatments.

There, the products are made with the stone crop plant. And the price feels good too - $50 down from $95.

Erika Bloom Pilates Plus is offering discounted pilates, but you also might want to try their Thai massage. It requires more movement and stretches the body, according to Brynne Billingsly.

Billingsly will walk on you, bend you and stretch you.. The hour-long therapy, for $50, is less than half the normal price.

"You'll not only feel relaxed, but energized as well," she said.

The key to enjoying Spa Week is to book early. For more information, visit SpaWeek.com.
