Vandals spray-paint 3 swastikas on synagogue

EDISON, New Jersey Edison police say the vandalism is being investigated as a bias crime - the second such incident this month in the township of 100,000 people.

Police say a teacher at Congregation Beth El synagogue discovered the swastikas Tuesday morning. Two were sprayed-painted on the glass doors of the main entrance. The third was painted on a brick wall nearby.

On Sept. 19, a 19-year-old Jewish man was punched in the face as he walked on the street near the yeshiva he attends.

The incident led to increased police patrols during the days leading up to the Yom Kippur holiday.
