Store clerk dies from gunshot wound

A Norwalk gas station clerk who was shot in the head during a robbery over the weekend has died after family members made the decision to remove him from life support. Marvin Morales says his 33-year-old cousin, Jose Joaquin Morales of Stamford, died Monday at Yale-New Haven Hospital. A nursing supervisor at the hospital also confirmed the death.

The killing was Norwalk's first homicide of the year. No arrests have been made.

Police Chief Harry Rilling is calling Saturday's shooting at the West Avenue gas station "horrendous" and "outrageous," and he says he hopes people with information are so angry that they will call police to help them solve the case.

Investigators say they're making progress, but they're not ready to release the surveillance video footage.
