Shootout sends NJ cop to hospital

ROSELLE, New Jersey Police and two suspects exchanged gunfire when officers arrived at a home on Warren Avenue sometime after midnight.

When the weapon discharged during the confrontation, the bullet hit the officer's left hand in the webbing between the thumb and forefinger.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital to be treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Two suspects fled the scene and authorities launched a large search for them. They looked in nearby backyards and the woods using thermal imaging cameras.
