String of robberies in Norwalk, Ct.

NORWALK, Connecticut Two suspects held up his deli on Winfield Street at gunpoint on Thursday.

The suspects covered their faces and made off with a few hundred dollars. The day before two armed gunmen tried to rob another deli a few miles away, but they left empty handed.

Police say it is a mini crime spree in Norwalk.

The M-O is strikingly similar to a deadly robbery at a gas station last weekend which was captured on surveillance video. One suspect shot and killed the attendant.

Jose Joaquin Morales was murdered even though he complied and handed over money from the register.

Police say the deli robberies may be linked, but they don't believe the same suspects are responsible for the gas station killing. However, they also say nothing has been ruled it out.

Norwalk's mayor says he's not entirely surprised by the usually violent week. He has approved overtime to step up patrols. Police don't want to give away specifics, but say an operational plan has gone into effect.
