Man fatally shot in Brooklyn

EAST FLATBUSH A 56-year-old man shot was shot to death on his front stoop in East Flatbush.

His family is left grieving and asking why.

"He always helped me," cousin Kareena Slater said.

Fifteen-year-old Kareena Slater says Charles Bulze was like her second father.

She says the 56-year-old construction worker was friendly, reliable and generous.

That generosity may have cost Bulze his life.

"Two guys came up to him and started talking and he said you're really going to shoot me? His brother went outside and found him face down with his keys in his hand," neighbor Hazel Charles said.

It happened around 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening at 469 East 49th Street in East Flatbush.

Bulze, from Saint Vincent, was shot twice in the torso on his stoop.

A neighbor called 9-1-1.

But it was too late -- Bulze was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.

"I came over here I saw the tape. I came to see like everybody else. Then I hear my cousin got shot twice in the chest. It's crazy," said cousin Andre Slater.

Family members don't understand how this could've happened.

They're hoping police make an arrest soon.
