Flu clinics closing due to vaccine shortages

NEW YORK Doctors and patients are growing frustrated at the lack of supplies and now some clinics will have to close their doors.

Nassau County Tom Suozzi held a press conference to discuss the shortage of both the Swine Flu vaccine, and the seasonal flu vaccine. He says mandatory vaccination and a high demand for both may put the public in jeopardy.

We want to be able to layout a very clear description to the public as to what's going on. We can't do that because the CDC hasn't given us the proper information," said Suozzi.

Suozzi expressed serious concerns over a comprehensive plan to distribute both vaccines.

According to Suozzi there is a serious shortage to the seasonal flu vaccine because many companies were directed to manufacture the Swine Flu vaccine.

Also mandatory seasonal flu vaccines have decreased the supply available to the public.

According to health officials there is also strong demand from the public for the Swine Flu vaccine.

"It's important we distinguish between seasonal flu and swine flu, and we educate people about the shortage that exists regarding seasonal flu for a particular reason and swine flu is a new product that has not produced enough for everyone to have," adds Suozzi.

Health clinics and local hospitals are closing since they don't have the supplies to provide to people.
