Eyewitness News is told their 2008 Yamaha motorcycle, westbound on 32nd Avenue, struck the Dodge Intrepid, which was southbound on 88th Street.
Witnesses say the force of the collision sent the motorcycle's 27-year-old passenger flying down the block, about 200 feet. The passenger was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Medical Center.
The motorcycle driver, 22-year-old Leonardo Ventura, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Friends set up a makeshift memorial at the scene for the Bronx men.
One described Ventura as a "beautiful person, he was friendly. Everyone loved him. No problems."
Police say three people in the Dodge Intrepid -- a man, his wife and their infant child -- were taken to Elmhurst Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
Both men were from the Bronx. The friend said he rode motorcycles with Ventura every day.
A weapon, believed to have been carried by the passenger, was recovered at the scene.
