Weather hampers search for plane

October 27, 2009 6:44:11 PM PDT
Thick fog and heavy rain are hampering the search for a plane witnesses say went down in Harriman State Park. Bad weather grounded helicopter searches on Tuesday.

Crews searched six square miles of the park in Haverstraw on the ground.

That's where witnesses say they saw a plume of smoke coming from a small plane at 6:30 on Monday night.

The FAA says an aircraft did go off radar, but it could have just been flying low.

There are no planes reported missing and so far no signs of any aircraft.
