Manhattan Bridge construction

October 30, 2009 10:59:45 AM PDT
Whether you walk, bike, drive or take the train over the Manhattan Bridge, you are headed for a long series of disruptions. By the end of the year, the city plans to start replacing the bridge's 622 suspenders.

Those are the vertical cables that hook the roadways onto the bridge's four main cables.

The B, D, N, and Q subway lines will face some weekend service disruptions.

The bike-path and some traffic lanes will also be closed.

The $150 million project should take about 3 ½ years to complete.
