It is a haunting police sketch of a gaunt, middle-aged man wanted for a series of home invasions in the West Village neighborhood.
The suspect poses as a deliveryman and pushes his way inside after the victims open their doors expecting to sign for a package.
It's happened five times in three weeks.
The first happened on Friday, October 16. Around 4:30 in the afternoon, the suspect entered the home of an 84-year-old woman on Bank Street after asking her for a glass of water. Once inside, while the victim was getting the water, the suspect removed a cell phone and a watch before fleeing.
In other cases, the victims were tied up, but otherwise unharmed.
The victims described the suspect as a white or Hispanic man, 40 to 50 years of age, approximately 5'8" - 6'2" tall. He has been described as wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans and work boots.
The latest robbery happened at 4:30 in the afternoon. The man was not in uniform and offered no form of identification.
