Boy tied up during home invasion

NORTH MASSAPEQUA He was tied up when thieves suddenly broke into his home.

"It makes you scared. Are you ever safe where you live? It can happen at any time," Leo Amoruso said.

It's a quiet neighborhood in North Massapequa, unaccustomed to violence.

Shortly after dark Friday night, police descended on a house on Hawthorne Avenue, trying to piece together what they're calling a home invasion.

Police say two men targeted this house, but it wasn't empty when they arrived.

The homeowner's son, just eleven years old, was home alone.

Investigators say the two suspects tied him up before making off with cash.

Right now detectives are trying to figure out why they chose this house in a brazen act that has neighbors on edge.
