Heroin seized at Newark Airport

NEWARK U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers arrested Guatemalan citizen Jose Arevalo on Oct. 31 after he was selected for routine baggage inspection. Inspectors say they found an unusually thick supportive backing on bags Arevalo was carrying, as well as false compartments in his luggage that contained a brown powder-like substance.

Authorities say the substance tested positive for heroin and has an estimated street value of nearly $370,000.
