New booster seat law in effect

Parents take note. A new law in New York state involving children and car booster seats is now in effect. As of midnight on Tuesday, all children between the ages of 4 and 8 must be in a booster seat when they are in a car.

The previous law required booster seats up to the age of 7.

Experts say booster seats reduce the risk of injury by nearly 60 percent for children in that age group.
