Fire tears through New Jersey library

CLIFFSIDE PARK, New Jersey They are cleaning up and getting a better sense of the damage at the library, a place to which many people feel a strong connection.

This morning, the fire chief says a transformer exploded next to the library and touched off a fire inside.

"A lot of books burned, there is smoke and water damage," said Anthony Lupica, Fire Chief of Cliffside Park.

People nearby heard the explosion, and some experienced a power surge.

"The power went light for a second, then a looked out and saw smoke and minutes later, there you go," said Timmy Geanette.

No one was hurt, but getting the fire under control took time and drew concern from officials and neighbors alike.
