Bronx landlord fatally stabbed in dispute

BRONX Police say 37-year-old George Shim was stabbed inside the apartment building on East 222 Street just before 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Shim was allegedly attacked by his basement tenant during an apparent dispute over a spare mattress.

He was stabbed once in the chest and rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say the victim, who is known to his friends as Dennis, got home from his job as a livery driver when he stumbled upon the argument, apparently over a spare mattress the tenant wanted for his basement.

He tried to intercede and was stabbed.

The tenant was quickly taken into custody by responding police. Charges against him are pending.
