Wind whips flames in house fire in Brooklyn

Firefighters battled the cold and the wind, as well as flames, from a second alarm house fire in the Midwood section of Brooklyn.Eyewitness News is told fire and heavy smoke spewed from the roof on East 37th Street just before 4:30 a.m. this morning.

The fire quickly spread through the two story house and shot through the roof.

Officials say the wind whipped flames took an hour to get under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
