A man who was extradited from Guatemala has pleaded not guilty to sex abuse charges involving a 9-year-old girl in New York. The indictment says 30-year-old Cesar Joel Sagastume Morales engaged in sexual conduct with the girl in 2005-2006, when he was her mother's boyfriend in Bedford.

He's also accused of possessing a photo of the girl engaged in a sex act.

Prosecutors say the mother found the photo on the defendant's cell phone and contacted police, but Sagastume Morales fled to his native Guatemala.

If convicted, Sagastume Morales could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
