A Long Island man has been convicted in the fatal choking of a corrections officer who was moonlighting as a bouncer at a bar in the Hamptons. Twenty-seven-year-old Anthony Oddone, a country club caddie from Farmingville, was convicted Monday of first degree manslaughter in the death Andrew Reister, a 40-year-old father of two.

The jury in Riverhead took nine days to decide on the lesser charge. They had been considering second degree murder. Oddone faces up to 25 years in prison.

Police say Oddone attacked Reister in the Southampton Publick House on Aug. 7 last year after the bouncer asked him to stop dancing on a table, and continued to choke him after he lost consciousness.

Oddone's defense attorney said his client acted in self-defense.
