And you can bet your mortgage that military personnel follow that rule to a T.
Although I wouldn't really bet your mortgage unless you've already paid it off.
Now to prove just how closely troops are paying attention to the rules, the U.S. commander in northern Iraq has ordered that any female soldier who gets pregnant will be subject to court martial. The order also goes for the men who get women pregnant, and it also applies to married couples.
The response has been negative, but experts say the military is within its rights to enforce the order.
We'll have the latest, tonight at 11.
Also at 11, what a snowstorm! But it happened perhaps at the most ideal of times - over the weekend, with a day to clean up before the first commute. And it's the beginning of a two-week holiday break.
I can blow our own horn on the coverage - because I was a viewer, depending on the latest information about the storm. Our team, led by Lee Goldberg and the other members of his AccuWeather posse, did a superb job predicting, helping us bunker, weather and dig out of the storm. And I found myself using our website to get the latest information, in a way I hadn't before. So kudos to our Internet gurus for keeping us up-to-the-minute.
Now the clean up. We'll have the latest, tonight at 11.
One other note for you: We're once again asking you to send in your holiday emails, to be read on air, when I co-anchor, along with Lee, and Lauren Glassberg, Eyewitness News on Christmas morning, from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.
We've been doing this since 2001, and your messages have always been warm and thoughtful and emotional. Please send, as always, to BILL.S.RITTER@ABC.COM. We will try to read as many as possible on air on Christmas morning, this Friday.
We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus and Rob Powers (in for Scott Clark) with the night's sports. I hope you can join Liz Cho and me, tonight at 11.
