End of Rudy's political road?

December 22, 2009

Where to begin to tick off the reasons? The gynormous amount of money he's made through his consulting business? Bernie Kerik? The messy personal life that gave the tabloids so many weeks of headlines? Bernie Kerik? A closer look at his two terms as Mayor? And did I mention Bernie Kerik?

Giuliani spent $59 million running for the Republican nomination for President last year. For his efforts, he got -- hang on while I count the number of delegates ....... exactly one.

That's more "per vote" than Michael Bloomberg spent on his last campaign.

We'll have reaction to Giuliani's announcement that he's pulling out of races he never entered, tonight at 11.

Also at 11, Tim Fleischer looks at a party-gone-bad. Maybe you remember the Halloween party at Tavern On The Green this fall. They invited too many folks to this private shindig, and some of the people who paid $60 a head were turned away. Now, those trying to get their money back have been turned away again. And wait till you hear why.

One other note for you: We're once again asking you to send in your holiday emails, to be read on air, when I co-anchor, along with Lee Goldberg and Lauren Glassberg, Eyewitness News on Christmas morning, from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.

We've been doing this since 2001, and your messages have always been warm and thoughtful and emotional. Please send, as always, to BILL.S.RITTER@ABC.COM. We will try to read as many as possible on air on Christmas morning, this Friday.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Lee's AccuWeather forecast and Rob Powers (in for Scott Clark) with the night's sports. I hope you can join Liz Cho and me, tonight at 11.
