Two men were shot, one fatally inside a Jersey City bar popular with boxers and fight fans. The gunfire erupted inside the Ringside Lounge on Tonnelle Avenue just after 11:15 p.m. Wednesday night.

A gunman walked into the bar, got into an argument with two men at a table, and opened fire, according to police.

A 23-year-old Irvington man was shot three times, including once in the forehead.

He was pronounced dead at Jersey City Medical Center.

The other man was shot in the arm.

The gunman fled the scene.

The shooting appeared to stem from a prior dispute.

The bar is popular with boxing fans, and professional boxers have been known to drop in to watch fights.

It has also been the site of previous violence. In 2004, a 31-year-old rap promoter was fatally shot in the parking lot, in an apparent dispute over jewelry.
