NJ prison guards investigated in threat probe

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. The Policemen's Benevolent Association Local 105 says three officers have been suspended with pay since October, when the investigation began. Another 19 face disciplinary charges in the case.

Union officials say the three told an inmate at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel on Oct. 3 that they would electrocute him with an electronic chair used to scan inmates for contraband.

Union representative Raymond Heck says the accusations are based on "rumors and innuendo" and that the investigation is dragging on based on unsubstantiated information.
