Indian Point contract talks continue

BUCHANAN, N.Y. Union spokesman Joe Flaherty says the union and plant owner Entergy met with a federal mediator after the deadline passed at 12:01 a.m. Monday. Entergy spokesman Jerry Nappi says negotiations are ongoing.

Wages and benefits are the main issues dividing the two sides.

Entergy said it could operate the plant safely with trained management employees if workers strike.

Utility Workers Union of America, Local 1-2, represents 433 workers at the plant.

Indian Point is in Buchanan, about 35 miles north of Manhattan.
